What’s up

I can’t believe it’s been almost two months since I’ve posted — time has zipped by.  Here’s a bit of what I’ve been up to:

Our RV trip took us to Ruidoso this month.  On the way down there we stopped at this little rest area in the Valley of Fires on highway 380 near Carrizozo.  The lava flows don’t stop the catus from finding a home for their roots.   We had a wonderful week in the mountains where the temperatures stayed in the 80s and cooled into the 50s at night.  Great for sleeping.

Well, I can see I’m behind the times again.  When I started this blog, it took a few tries to learn how to post pictures properly.  Now the system has changed, once again, and I’m back at square one.  It will probably change again as soon as I learn what I need to know — it never ends, which might be a good thing!

I finished a couple of guild quilts —

And this week I finally got around to paintng the bedroom.  I really dislike painting — all the mess and clean up.  I decided to do one wall a day for four days.  It worked out very well.  I worked in the mornings and felt energized to do a good job.  I knew by lunchtime I would be done for the day and also, I only needed to move a piece or two of furniture each day, and put it back.  I fiished today and I’m pleased with the results.  The room looks a bit smaller to me, but I think that’s because the paint is a bit on the darker side.  The new blue/green is a bit more intense than the apricot I had for  more than 20 years.

I’m especially glad to be changing the window coverings.  I’ve had formal pleated drapes forever and I took them down and put them in the trash.  Yesterday I went looking for fabric to make Roman shades.  I found a couple of nice patterns at Hobby Lobby and some more at JC Penny.  Pennys quoted me more than $300 per shade to have them made in the fabric I liked!!!  Good thing I sew!  I’m going back and snap some pictures of the fabrics this week so I can made a final decision by the end of the week.
